The Do’s and Dont’s for Tightening Large Pores

Noninvasive Skin Tightening

Lets face it. No one likes the look of large pores. Not only do pores change the way makeup appears, but having enlarged ones allow toxins and germs to enter our bodies causing blackheads and pimples. Your first instinct is the squeeze the area, trying to rid clogged areas of the appearance. The more you squeeze, the more the pore stretches actually making it larger.

There are handfuls of ways to surgically make your skin look tighter and brighter, but going under the knife or adding needles may not be for everyone. We at the Miami Center for Dermatology take pride in great looking skin so we’ve compiled a few noninvasive skin tightening techniques that will keep your skin looking beautiful. Here are a few do’s and don’ts that will help eliminate large pores and keeping them enlarging all together:

Best Skin Tightening

Vitamin C:

Vitamin C is great no matter how you use it. This powerful antioxidant has many skin benefits. If applied topically or even ingested, it can nourish collagen and brighten the appearance of skin. Not only does it help with the appearance of pores but it also helps to fight blemishes.

Exfoliating should be your key to skin care. Exfoliating removes the dead skin cells that clog your pores but won’t stretch them to make them look larger. Adding exfoliating to your regular skin routine allows your pores to remain small. You don’t need anything fancy to exfoliate. You can just grab a clean washcloth with your daily cleansers to remove dead skin. If you want to get fancy, you can invest in a cleaning brush that massages the skin, moving dead skin cells faster.

Clay masks:

Using a clay mask regularly will do your skin justice. Masks with kaolin clay are great for those with large pores and will help reduce them. To start, using a clay mask twice a week is ideal for a noticeable change to the look of your pores. The most popular mask is the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay. This mask also helps with absorbing oil leaving you fresh and clean.

Skin Clogging Makeup:

There’s nothing wrong with a little makeup. But the problem occurs when your foundation gets stuck in your pores. Once makeup gets stuck, it’s hard to get out. Clogged pores lead to pimples and blackheads which no one wants. Looking for makeup that is “non-comedogenic” will allow you keep your freshly beat face and clean skin underneath. “non-comedogenic” makeup is specially formulated to avoid clogging pores.

There’s not many noninvasive skin tightening techniques that can reverse the effects of smoking on your skin. It can significantly accelerate the skin making pores appear larger without reversal. Dropping your smoking habits is the only key to improving the look of pores.

Spending too much time in the sun:

While the sun does give nice tans, it does have damaging effects to the skin. Unprotected sun exposure is one of the most common ways to age skin quickly. Sun damage exaggerates large pores making it hard to reverse with noninvasive skin tightening techniques.
