Perioral Dermatitis Treatment In Miami

Rosacea is a skin condition that causes redness in the face and is most common in women with fair skin around the ages of 30 to 60 years old. Rosacea should be treated to prevent it from getting worse. Although there is not a cure for Rosacea, the Miami Center For Dermatology can provide you with treatments to reduce your symptoms.

Symptoms of Rosacea May Include:

  • Facial redness
  • Swollen red bumps
  • Eye dryness, irritation, and swollenness
  • Red eyelids
  • Enlarged nose

Facial redness may cause small blood vessels on the face to rise and become noticeable. The swollen red bumps may contain pus and make your face feel hot. An enlarged nose is rare but can cause Rhinophyma. Rhinophyma is more common in men than in women. Rosacea has more than one cause. It could be hereditary factors that cause this or environmental reasons.

Here Are Several Factors That May Play a Part In Having Rosacea:

  • Extreme temperatures
  • Stress, anger and embarrassment
  • Saunas
  • Spicy foods
  • Hot foods or beverages
  • Alcohol
  • Corticosteroids

Perioral Dermatitis is a facial rash that leaves bumps near the mouth. Similar to Rosacea, it is commonly seen in women but may be found in men as well.

Symptoms of Perioral Dermatitis Include:

  • Bumps around the mouth, nose, eyes, and forehead.
  • Mild burning near the mouth

Common Causes of Perioral Dermatitis:

  • Topical steroid creams
  • Inhaled prescription steroid sprays
  • Heavy use of face creams and moisturizers

It is important to stop using these creams and moisturizers when trying to treat Perioral Dermatitis. Many times once these steroid creams are stopped the symptoms may worsen for a few days or weeks before your skin begins to improve. Our doctors at Miami Center For Dermatology will advise your to avoid scrubbing when washing your face and for difficult cases to stop the use of fluoridated toothpaste.

Here at the Miami Center for Dermatology, your comfort and satisfaction is our main concern. For that reason, we offer Perioral Dermatitis and Rosacea Treatment. Call Today to schedule an appointment at (305) 279-7546 or Click Here to Contact Us Today!
