NovaThreads Procedure

The NovaThreads Procedure is an FDA approved procedure using PDO absorbable sutures to lift, tighten and smooth skin. Nova Threads are needles that are preloaded with PDO thread. The entire needle is inserted into the interstitial tissue at sub -dermal level, parallel to the surface of the skin, and then pulled out leaving the PDO thread, no cuts or incisions.

Polydioxanone (PDO) is used for biomedical applications, particularly in cardiothoracic surgery, because it is fully absorbed by hydrolysis in 4-6 months and doesn’t create any scar tissue. Moreover, the foreign body stimulates collagen synthesis and skin structure created will hold for another 12 to 15 months.

Meshing & Lifting

In addition, a beautiful and healthy face has a “V-shape”. With the aging of tissues and the action of gravity, this “V-shape” gets lost. The idea behind the Nu-Mesh and the Nu-lift technique is to either a scaffold to support the tissue and keep them in the “V-shape” or, if necessary, to subtly lift the tissues and reposition of the skin to recreate the “V-shape” where it has been lost.

Although, the NovaThreads Procedure can be inserted / injected almost anywhere, a certain area that lacked a non-surgical procedure is the area of the jaw and neck. Just as, botulinum toxin has no rival on the forehead and fillers for mid-face.

Also, Nu-mesh consists of creating a mesh under the skin with the Nova Threads smooth or the Twist, usually 5 threads per field, applied in 2 or 3 directions, thus, creating a “net” underneath  the skin. The Nu-Mesh technique relies on the action of the needle and the reaction to the foreign body in order to stimulate new collagen.

Nu-Lift uses barbed threads – Nova Threads barb1 (unidirectional) & barb2 (bidirectional). Such barbs or cogs provide an additional grip that makes it possible for a real lift off the skin.

NovaThread Procedure Time Length

Further, the duration depends on the area to be treated. It is important to prepare the skin, as well as the numbing medication to work, which usually takes about 30 minutes. The actual procedure usually takes up to an additional 15-30 minutes to complete.
